U.S. Army Awards three more contracts in support of this summer’s joint training at  Novo Selo Training Area

July 1, 2008

The U.S. Army awarded three more contracts worth over $300,000 for this summer’s joint exercise, Bulgarian Panther 08. The contracts will provide goods and services for soldiers training at Novo Selo Training Area, including procurement of morale, welfare and recreation services and equipment as well as temporary motor pool vehicle services.  The contracts have been awarded to the following companies

Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Staff Augmentation Services to Caravan Logistics Company Ltd (two-year contract, total estimated value $73,983)

Temporary Motor Pool Vehicle Services to Car Rental Bulgaria
(two-year contract, total estimated value $210,000)

Morale, Welfare, Recreation Equipment Delivery to Fuduric
(total estimated value $46,684)

Including these three contracts, the U.S. Army has already awarded 13 contracts totaling $7.6 million.

This summer’s joint exercise will build upon 2007’s successful partnership.  Approximately 900 U.S. military personnel and civilian employees will participate alongside Romanian and Bulgarian units.  The primary mission is for a rotational unit to train with and build enhanced relationships with NATO allies, Romania and Bulgaria.

In addition, the U.S. Army has allocated approximately $60 million for construction of permanent facilities at Novo Selo TA, with the intention of contracting with Bulgarian companies to the maximum extent possible under current U.S. contracting regulations and laws.  All vendors will be selected through a competitive and open process.

U.S. Army Europe and the U.S. Embassy do not hire directly to fill vacancies in the joint U.S.-Bulgarian military facilities.  The Bulgarian and/or international companies that are awarded contracts for goods and services will be responsible for hiring personnel for work in the joint military facilities, based on the type of jobs needed in the awarded contracts. Prospective applicants for vacancies in the joint military facilities can apply for jobs with the companies that have won the contracts for goods and services.
